Reach for the stars

Extracts from Reach for the Stars a puppet show devised, written and directed by Amanda Bright in 2020 in collaboration with Little Angel Theatre and The Albany. Reach for the Stars was designed as a ‘suitcase’ show suitable for one performer to tour single-handedly to venues and schools using public transport. Supported by funding from Arts Council England.

Windrush Stories, 2019

The 2019 Windrush Stories project that I delivered via my organisation Arts Bridge Charity is the inspiration for my DYCP application. Below you can see images from the outdoor community performances and hear the recorded text that the children performed to.

The performance started with a physical theatre piece depicting the children going about their daily lives in Jamaica, then seeing an advert for the Empire Windrush, packing their belongings and saying goodbye to friends and family. The piece went on to depict the experiences and stories shared by the Windrush Generation Elders about their arrival in the UK. Physical theatre, dance and song were used throughout the piece.
